You have to experience the bad to appreciate the beautiful

The moment when you look back on the past few months, let alone years of your life – and can hardly recognize how it’s all unfolded.

Let me share a bit of my story!

Hello! My name is Rochelle and I’ve been in the industry since I was 13 years old, assisting for free at a local salon because there was (and still is!) nothing quite like the smell of a Saturday at the ‘beauty parlor’ – as so they referred to themselves as.

Fast forward a few years, I was a very lost 16 year old – enduring a pretty traumatic event, failing school, I finally broke down to my mom and begged her to let me drop out & get my GED.

Press the fast forward button again, 12 months later, I was a licensed cosmetologist at  17 years old.

Beginning my assistant career at a well known high volume salon – little did I know, that salon would be my home for the next 7 years of my career.

While those years were filled with fast growth, they were also filled with denial. I was unhappy. I was going through the motions of everything we are ‘supposed to be doing’, unsure as to why I was feeling this way.

You see, life works in absolute mysterious ways. Your heart begins to make decisions that your mind can’t quite process – & it’s exactly what I needed.

I took a bet on myself. I put myself first. Something that scared the soul out of me and in turn gave me my life back.

Now? I’m a 28 year old woman, mother, partner, daughter, SALON OWNER, mentor to truly the most amazing team. We grow, we thrive, we break our own boundaries, together – the way my career should have always been!

You have to experience the bad to appreciate the beautiful.

Don’t ever give up on yourself. You deserve every ounce of what comes your way.
